Friday Treats

I love ice cream. Love is too weak to describe my constant need and yearn for the delicious treat. We’ve had a Groupon for Cold Stone for almost a year and decided to finally use it. So many different choices! Sweet cream? Cheesecake? Cake batter? We chose pumpkin ice cream mixed with vanilla bean.

Pumpkin Treat

We added in cinnamon, graham crackers, caramel, Heath bar, chocolate flakes and cookie dough.  Perfect for an autumn evening next to the fireplace.

Yum.

Weekend Review

The weekend went by pretty quickly but I got a lot of work done – cleaned the condo (for the most part) loads of laundry, watching the Huskies lose shamefully to Stanford and the Sounders beat San Jose. Sunday was spent running the Dawg Dash 10k, watching the Seahawks lose to the Browns, a trip to the pumpkin patch and a birthday dinner for a friend.

Pumpkins

I apologize for the lack of photos, I haven’t had a chance to load photos from my camera yet. The weekends excursions and a lingering sinus pain kept me from work today. Instead, I’ve been enjoying this:

My cure-all

Delicious concoction of hot water, lemon juice and honey

I even asked for it at the bar I was at Saturday night. This and reruns of Psych and the Real Housewives is a remedy for any illness.

I’ve returned!

Hello! I know it’s been awhile since my last post, I apologize. I’ve been very busy training for this:

Nike Womens Marathon

Don’t worry, I didn’t actually do the full, I did the half. The full would’ve turned my legs to jello. The hills were a beast to handle and my legs didn’t like going up an incline for over a mile. That course is rough! Props to anyone out there who has done it!

The goal was to run through this:

Finish Line

To get this:

Finishers Necklace

And this:

Fireman

All in all, great race. And now I have more time to cook, bake and blog!

Holidays

I love the holidays. I’m one of those crazy people who starts listening to Christmas music on the day of Thanksgiving (ok, maybe even a little bit before) and doesn’t stop listening until March. I decorate my apartment, my office cube, even Dan’s condo. You can imagine my delight when I opened the mailbox and Pottery Barn’s holiday catalog appeared in front of me. I’ve taken it to bed every night and gone over every page in detail. Dan and I are going to celebrate Christmas at his condo this year due to our parents being out of town, and I’m already thinking of ways to decorate for Christmas. Thanksgiving comes first though, and I need to get ready for that. Below are some of the items from the Pottery Barn catalog that I love.

Because nothing says elegant like fake pears

I'm sure this would be easy to make, but without my old roomie, I am lost.

Who wouldn't love to shake some salt and pepper out of these?!

This makes me want to curl up next to a fire, even though it's 70 degrees out

There are so many things in the catalog I’d love to buy and decorate my 400 SF apartment with, but sadly that will not be happening. A girl can always dream.
