Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and New Year surrounded by loved ones. We decided last minute to drive down to San Francisco to visit Dan’s family the Sunday before Christmas. We had a great week visiting and eating our way through the city. Dan’s brother-in-law’s family has a great tradition of oysters and crab on Christmas Eve and we happily obliged. On Christmas Day I attempted my first apple pie and pumpkin pie from the Dahlia Bakery Cookbook. On the day after Christmas Dan’s brother and sisters took us into the city to check out the Ferry Building, eat at Hog Island Oysters, and take pictures/drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. Can you believe I’ve actually never been there? Thursday we ate at Dan’s brother-in-laws amazing restaurant, Postino in Lafayette. Saturday we visited Dan’s uncle at Anchor Brewing and had a great lunch at Nopalito right next to Lincoln Park. On Sunday we did the long drive back from San Francisco to my parent’s house. We’re finally home and while it’s been great to be with family, it’s so nice to finally be home and be reunited with the cat. I’ve already been quite productive making butternut squash orzo, organizing the food cabinet and I’m on my way to make banana bread after I post.
As the new year rolls around I’ve decided to make some resolutions for myself. I’m hoping this blog will help me keep them!
- Meatless Mondays – I’ve wanted to do this for awhile, but I found myself always forgetting about it. This year I’m going to try and consciously remember to abstain from eating meat on Mondays, both for my health and for the environment.
- Put more effort into blogging- I’m sure by now you guys have noticed how up and down I am with blogging. I would like to keep blogging most consistently, at minimum twice a week. I don’t think I’ll always have a recipe, but maybe I’ll find something fun you guys will enjoy! Suggestions are welcome!
- Try to save money and budget – Let’s be honest, I try this every year… But this year will be the year! … Right???
Thank you guys for spending so much time with me on this blog! I truly appreciate each one of you and hope to stay in better contact this year! Here are a few pictures to let you guys know what I’ve been up to in the past few months. Happy 2013!!!
